A Pig's Tale: Hog Named Six Seven Spared by Miami Dade County Mayor.

Although not quite at the equivalent scale as pardoning holiday birds, but the mayor of Miami-Dade conducted a Donald Trump moment this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. Clemency is justified for her. No offenses are on her docket,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with inescapable allusions to the extraordinary and sizable number of executive clemencies issued since the beginning of a current administration.

“If we disregard eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” she went on. “Let this swine have a long and happy life free from concern.”

This ceremony, simultaneously observing and challenging the local cultural practice of consuming swine during the holidays, was created to replicate the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The pig, provided by a local firefighter, was named for the modern linguistic fad of young people exclaiming “six seven” – inspired by a hip-hop line – often without clear purpose. The craze became so pervasive that a prominent word reference recently declared “6-7” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Future Secured

Six Seven the pig is now set to enjoy its days at a farm sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“The annual pig pardon has become a cherished method to kick off the holiday season,” said Eric Castellanos, in a decidedly positive message.

“It captures the character of Miami: vibrant, varied, and grounded in customs that bring people together. Each year, we are honored to observe culture and compassion in a way unique to Miami.”

Guests enjoyed a vegetarian menu of croquettes and strong coffee as they marked the pig's pardon.
