Recent Particulars Surface Regarding the Discovery of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Remains
Recent details have emerged regarding the shocking passing of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were found at their residence residence on Sunday.
The Alarm
As detailed in an account citing a person close to the family, a practitioner scheduled for an appointment first raised the alarm after not being able to enter the residence. The practitioner then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives nearby.
When she went into the residence, Romy found her father's body. Reports state she then fled the house in anguish, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also present. Another individual who had accompanied her then dialed 911. Afterward, first responders found Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Developments
The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of murder in the first degree, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is now in custody without bail.
Clarifications
The person close to the family questioned several previously reported details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a separate structure on the estate, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that juncture.
Additionally pushed back against published suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "apprehensive" about Nick's conduct in recent weeks. Instead the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement also extends to descriptions of alleged "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a gathering held by Conan O'Brien on the night before the discovery. While the source said they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they asserted that suggestions of a "major confrontation" between the two were inaccurate.
Ongoing Inquiry Timeline
As stated by law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports indicated the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been dead for a number of hours.
Nick Reiner was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the family home. He was set to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, stated his client had a medical issue and would be unable to attend until Wednesday or later.
