Ukrainian authorities have declared the commencement of mass production for a new domestically developed defensive UAV to strengthen its air defences. Three initial manufacturers have started production, with 11 more getting ready to establish assembly lines, the defence ministry announced this past Friday.

'Octopus' Technology Proven in Combat Situations

These UAVs will be based on a nationally created system called “Octopus” engineered to intercept Shahed drones. The system has been tested in combat and proved successful “at night, under jamming and flying low,” the ministry confirmed. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set a target of producing up to 1,000 defensive drones each day.

Recent Attack on Kyiv Characterized as Calculated

Volodymyr Zelenskyy described Russia’s latest attack against Ukraine as “intentional, calculated and brutal” following six individuals were killed and dozens injured in a series of nocturnal attacks across Kyiv. Air raid sirens activated in the capital shortly after midnight this past Friday, with enemy UAVs quickly detected overhead and heavy machine-gun fire from Ukraine's aerial protection units.

Zelenskyy stated the nation was hit by hundreds of UAVs and 18 missiles. The deceased had been inside their residences in a block of flats on the capital's left bank when it was hit. Dozens of other buildings were damaged, among them the diplomatic mission of Azerbaijan.

International Objection Following Embassy Damage

Azerbaijan announced it delivered a formal objection to Moscow's diplomatic representative on Friday after the destruction at its diplomatic compound. The blast from a Russian Iskander missile demolished part of the compound's boundary wall and resulted in serious damage to the embassy grounds, the Azerbaijani foreign ministry reported. There were no personnel injured, and a ministry spokesperson confirmed the Kyiv embassy was continuing to operate.

Russian Aerial Bomb Manufacturing Experiences Significant Increase

Moscow intends to manufacture as many as 120,000 guided aerial bombs this year, a high-ranking Ukrainian defense official disclosed, among them 500 of a new, longer-range version that is capable of targeting more towns and cities. Russian forces were firing 200 to 250 aerial bombs daily, with the previous month's average daily usage being about 170, according to defence ministry data.

Ukrainian Attacks Target Russian Energy Infrastructure

Moscow's Black Sea port of the port city halted for a period oil exports this past Friday – representing 2% of worldwide oil production – after a Ukrainian missile and drone attack. Military commanders in Kyiv said its forces had launched Neptune cruise missiles and used various types of strike drones in the attack on Novorossiysk “as part of operations to reduce the military and economic potential of the invading force.”

Ukrainian forces separately targeted a processing plant in the Saratov area and a fuel storage facility in the adjacent Engels region during the night.

International Restrictions Affect Moscow's Oil Producer

The number two energy company Lukoil announced on Friday it is negotiating with potential buyers regarding its foreign assets after recent restrictions from Western nations and the collapse of a deal with commodity trader Gunvor. “Final arrangements will be announced after the final agreements are completed and the necessary regulatory approvals are secured,” Lukoil stated.

Zelenskyy Plans Visit to Spanish Capital

Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to travel to the city of Madrid, the Spanish capital, on Tuesday to meet with lawmakers following his trip to France, Spanish parliamentary officials announced. Zelenskyy would meet deputies from all houses of parliament during his visit, an official announcement said.
